Neurological Rehabilitation

Functional Neurology is the application of brain based rehabilitation which integrates the study of modern neuroscience and biomechanics. Any change to the brain or body due to injury results in a change in function of the brain. These changes result in difficulty with information processing.

This can cause symptoms such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Balance problems
  • Nausea

  • Headaches
  • Changes in muscle tone
  • Difficulty with eye movements

Similar to the way a physiotherapist will find a weak muscle and give appropriate exercises and applications to strengthen the muscle, functional neurology aims to find the injured pathway in the nervous system and strengthen it.  This is referred to as Neuroplasticity.  Treatment is catered to the patients specific injury based on the findings of a detailed initial exam.
